Feb 26, Happy for No Reason

A little preview: I took 5 books out of the library over Christmas vacation from college, which was a month long for me. The book Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out
was the last one that I picked up, but turned out to be one of the best books I have ever read--and I read a lot.

The title sounds like it may be a corny book, but the tips for being happier in every aspect of your life are very profound. It addresses your spiritual life, your life purpose, your health, your relationships, etc. I found it utterly satisfying and helpful.

The link above will send you to Amazon, where you can find this book for around $10. Or check your library. I've said before that it is very hard to be healthy when you are not happy, and this book will open your eyes to the many ways that you can support your health through happiness. Enjoy!

Feb 3, Inversion Table

My husband and I purchased an Inversion Table--where you hang upside down--a couple years ago. I have seen some significant benefits--and so has my chiropractor!

Sometimes I use it daily for about 5 minutes. Sometimes I forget about it and return to it when my back hurts. It has been wonderful for getting the kinks out.

In fact, I've only gone to the chiropractor 2-3 times in the last two years. Before, I had to schedule multiple visits at least twice/year (yes, I would have been better off with once/month visits).

Well, now, when I do go to the chiro, he can't believe how little he needs to adjust. And he says, "Keep doing what you're doing." So I am. And you could be, too.

Look for a quality inversion table, because it can be dangerous. You don't want to fall on your head and break your neck. I got mine from Teeter Hang-ups through Home Shopping Network for about $300. I know I have saved more than that in chiropractor bills!

Apr 23, Drugs not the answer

I just read the beginning of an article (did not have the stomach to read the whole thing--had to come here to rant) about new research that feels that sore muscles after exertion is from calcium leaking out of cells not from lactic acid as previously believed.

The article is wondering if this information will provide future help for CFS sufferers in offering a new drug they are working on to stop the unwanted leakage.

You do not stop leakage from a cell by giving someone a drug! You stop leakage by improving the composition of the cell wall. Can you imagine the problems this future drug will cause when the stuff that needs to get out of the cell cannot get through?

How do you improve the composition of a cell wall so stuff does not leak out that is not supposed to leak? And so that certain things will pass through the cell wall when you want them to--like nutrients in and wastes out?

Nutrients. Along with fresh air and pure water. This is what cells are composed of.

Omega 3s are very important for a cell wall to function properly. How many of us eat fatty stinky fish every day? It is only the stinky fish that have the good fish oils. Ask me about shark liver oil. It is superior to them all.

Another way to improve each and every cell is Vitamin E. This helps hand out the toxins from the cell. Vitamin C carries it in the blood from there to be excreted.

Protein is important for making healthy cells. Your body uses a lot of protein when composing cells.

Many nutrients work together. That is why one supplement will not be your answer. You need a whole program designed to fit your unique needs. This is what I help you do. When you rebuild healthy cells, you will not be sick and tired all the time. It really is that simple.

May 24, Strep Carrier, Who Knew?

This does not have a lot to do with fibromyalgia, but I had this experience and thought I would pass it along.

My son has had 3 cases of strep throat in the last 4 months. He had only been on antibiotics 3 or 4 times before in his life, but now--three times in 4 months. (He's 8 years old.)

After the third incident, I asked the doctor in Urgent Care what could be causing the repeated strep throat infections. He said there could be a carrier in the household that keeps re-infecting him.

I had never heard of a carrier for strep throat. Since my husband had been gone the whole time between the last two infections, we only tested myself and my other son with the swab test for strep throat. Sure enough, I was a carrier for strep throat. (And I am guilty of taking a sip before delivering juice. Shhh. Do not tell. I have changed my ways.)

Anyway, I had to go on a round of antibiotics to stop re-infecting my son. Now I am taking the pre-and pro-biotics that will prevent me from getting the usual yeast infection after antibiotics. (If you have had this happen, follow the link for the solution.)

Another couple notes on this subject:

1) The doctor also said that pets can be carriers, although my research finds that this is a rare occasion.

2) As I was telling the chiropractic assistant about all this strep throat carrier stuff, she said a friend's daughter was scheduled to get her tonsils taken out due to repeated strep throat infections. She was going to be sure and check with her friend to see if the carrier-in-the-household theory had been fully investigated before a child has unnecessary surgery.

Please, pass this info along to a friend who may benefit.

Warm Regards,

Anita

Apr 20, Featured on Oprah

Wow! Oprah is featuring the cleaning products that I recommend for your health on her show today, in honor of Earth Day, Friday, April 20th.

These products are safe for you, your family, and the environment. Did you know that we as consumers pollute the environment more than the big corporations? Sucks, but true. So, it is time to get more responsible. And save money.

For instance, you can make your own window cleaner with two drops of Basic H in a quart bottle. I use this concentration for all of my light cleaning and dusting.

It's just 1/4 teaspoon in 16 oz. of water for general cleaning. A 16 oz. bottle makes 48 gallons of cleaner. It takes me 3-5 years to go through this container. (Granted, I'm not a clean freak!)

But check these out, because toxins and chemicals in your cleaners can be contributing to your bodys inability to heal. Step out of your routine and make the changes necessary to be healthy. Contact me if you have questions. Just click on the nav bar at the left.

I recently had my thyroid medication increased. Honestly, I thought I was on a good dose for me. I didn't think I needed to change my thyroid medication.

But, when they checked my T4, it was really low. So, guess what? Now I am less depressed (I was just feeling it a little before), my cravings are greatly reduced (gotta love that!), my energy is better (duh), and I'm more patient (my kids are happier here).

So, follow the link to find out more about your thyroid from my website and check out the most recent issue of my newsletter to discover if your thyroid is bordorline low.

Aug 3, Those TV ads for Drug Companies

I'm getting tired of seeing these commercials that want to solve our problems by having us ask our doctor about a drug. These must be multi-million--maybe even billion--dollar campaigns. It's no wonder drugs cost so much.

The two that bug me most are for IBS and Restless Legs Syndrome. Both of these can be solved through the proper supplements.

IBS is often controlled when a person gets the right "good" bacteria in their digestive system. This does take a special supplement that can deliver live bacteria to the intestines, by-passing the stomach acid, which can kill the bacteria. In conjunction with a supplement that feeds this bacteria, you would be amazed at the results.

There's a better description of help for your digestive system when you follow the link below.

Restless Legs are a result of not having the proper Calcium/Magnesium balance so the muscles can relax and you can sleep. Click on the Nutrition tab for more information about the nutrients you need.

Jun 15, Are You Being Poisoned?

I have a fibromyalgia client who mentioned to me that she has this sense that she is full of poison. I think her intuition may be right on!

This can be one of the keys to your fibromyalgia and to your recovery. The personal care products you use, the cleaning products you try, the air pollution you breathe, the chemicals you drink: all of these are literally bombarding your body with foreign toxins from every direction, all the time.

These chemicals do not go away. They dont biodegrade. They just accumulate.

You know that pollution in the air goes into our lungs, right? Well, every time you are using a cleaning product that smells very strongly you are breathing those fumes (chemicals) into your lungs. And what happens when you breathe something into your lungs? It gets pulled into your bloodstream the same way inhaling a cigarette will transfer nicotine into your bloodstream.

Im sure you are aware of how your skin absorbs the nicotine from a patch. Many more drugs are being administered this way, arent they? This is because anything that touches your skin is going to be absorbed into your skin at some level, whether its the laundry detergent and dryer sheets you are using or the make-up and lotion you apply. Any toxins that touch your skin will be absorbed into your body, effectively putting a strain on your immune system, to get rid of these toxins.

What happens if your immune system is fighting off toxins all the time? It cant put attention to fighting off other things like viruses.

What happens if all of your nutrients go to help the immune system fight off toxins? There are no nutrients left to grow healthy cells.

Click on the link and check out back-issue #15 of my newsletter for the rest of this article.

Apr 26, Awareness vs. Feeling Better

I'm going to rant a little here, so please bear with me.

Fibromyalgia Awareness Day is coming. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against having this day. But after last year's Million Letter Campaign, I still heard nothing on the news about fibromyalgia.

This is because anyone that has not experienced fibro, does not really care.

They don't care precisely because it's a hidden ailment. You don't look sick.

OK, making people more aware that you are sick, even though you don't look it, will give you some sympathy. If you want to play the victim, then you'll be fine with that.

I just don't think awareness is the answer. I surely don't want the drug companies to become more aware of fibro, so they conjure up more medications with more side effects that, in the end, compromise your health even more.

I think the answer is information on how to get well--not just information that fibro exists.

There is some pychological satisfaction in finally receiving a diagnosis, but it really doesn't improve your health to put a name on your condition, does it?

So, let's spread the word that if you manage your health habits, investigating everything that can affect your health, you can feel terrific despite your diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

Now that's spreading something of importance. That's spreading hope.

Apr 15, Fibromyalgia, Cancer and Detox

I've been helping a friend with cancer the last couple weeks, doing a little research in that direction instead of my ususal fibromyalgia focus. I just listened to a cassette tape of an interview with Dr. S. Rogers on reversal of late stage cancer.

Her position is that first you have to create health in the digestive system, then promote the detoxification of the body, then the body can work properly to heal itself.

She states many studies where certain nutrients support the ability of the body to overcome cancer. She then points out that there is a synergistic effect when many nutrients are used at once to aid the body in the healing process. She feels that this process is the key to recovering from any chronic illness, including fibromyalgia.

Contact me if you want to know more about how to get your digestive system working properly, detox with herbs and nutrients, and get you back into the wellness that you deserve.

Another note that Dr. Rogers had about healing is that you need to believe that you are worthy of having good health, in order to recover.

This means you have to work on your thoughts to get well, too. I understand how hard this can be, because it takes changing habits that you've practiced unconsciously for a long time.

Check out my coaching program for more information on how you can become empowered to take charge of your health and get on with your life, better than ever.

Apr 10, Trial and Error

Just a quick note: I have a client who has been doing much better, mostly pain-free, staying away from wheat, but she was still having headaches.

She stopped drinking tea and added more water to her routine and her headaches cleared up. If she feels a headache coming on, she drinks some water and it goes away.

Then she did a little test, having some bread (wheat) one day and ended up back with pain in her legs and extreme fatigue.

These are the kinds of things that I'd like to be able to help you discover in order to end the suffering in your life. It takes trial and error to find what is causing your fibromyalgia, but it also takes knowing what to try and how long to give it a try. Think you've tried everything? Contact me. I guarantee that I can help you.
